Soft Opening and Your Dreams explore performativity as a condition of contemporary life, examining the shifting roles between observation and participation, external expectations and internalised discipline.
In Soft Opening, visitors become both spectators and performers. The boundaries between audience, stage and backstage remain fluid, allowing perspectives to constantly shift. The work reflects on theatricality and the event itself as a space in which roles are continuously negotiated.
Your Dreams turns this inquiry inward. Texts collaged from health brochures, yoga instructions and the artist’s own scripts are recited and layered. What begins as a promise of relaxation gradually becomes a demanding voice of self-optimisation. The overlapping instructions reveal how social expectations are internalised and enacted through the body.
