Closer Than They Appear

Bandages, rear-view mirror, PVC, foam, copper, steel, wood

As distorted as the plasticine in the animated film, the reflection also appears in the work 'Closer Than They Appear', mounted on the opposite wall: an installation consisting of several rearview mirrors, viscose and expired bandages from first aid kits. The video projection, the objects in the room and the bodies of the visitors are reflected and altered in the work; looking back splinters the picture and creates a fragmented view of the surroundings and the body. Always supported by the bandage material, the rearview mirrors break the perspective into individual parts. The obligation to carry a first-aid kit in the car already implies the possibility of catastrophe.
