sound installation / fleece, red light / 370 x 220 / 2015 & 16
Text and language is a very important part of my working process. Instead of sketching I often start to write. But what happens when I don‘t use my own words as material and vocabulary? Based on a total of eight interviews on the subject of power and powerlessness, I composed a sound collage out of spoken language. The voices and individual narratives can sometimes be understood, but often they just blend into each other. The acoustic whirl of the collage is meant to be overwhelming. For the installation of the piece I built an uterus-like corridor with a dome at the end, where you could lie down and listen. Once I staged the same audio installation in a moving elevator and once in a dark, cold room. The experience and perception of the sound piece varies vastly depending on the setting.
